Protections from COVID-19

Ritual Hand Washing

Dear Friends:

I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits.  First of all, I appreciate those who read and responded positively to my last email THE CONTROL FACTOR. I admit it’s not my style to intersect politics with religion, however “when the shoe fits”…  And before I move on to ideas of protection from COVID-19, I remain in my views of the future presidency.

As we stand at the intersection of body and soul, COVID-19 is bringing a lot of fear to the forefront of our concern.  Before my children went off to college in the summer of 2009, I became a rabbi on Mothers Day, partially because I needed someone to mother.  From the mother perspective, I’m stating the obvious regarding our bodies, wash your hands. From the soul perspective of washing, Judaism teaches ritual for hand washing.  Click here  and add a Godly dimension of love to your body and soul.

From the Ancients of Judaism perspective, God is known as the true source of all illness. Therefore God is also the true source of all healing and protection. The Levitical temple priests (known as the Kohen) were blessed by God to bless the soul of the community using their hands in prayer. Others used energy medicine and folk healing as curative and protective approach regarding illness. I am of the Levites and love being in service.  Whichever shoe fits, wear it proudly.

As we wonder, worry and expect a possible/probable pandemic, I’m washing my brain with ideas to ward off this pre passover plague. I’m also praying to gain further wisdom and not to get brain washed.  In 2004-2005, I met Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, MD.  His profound expertise in intersecting natural medicine, spirituality, Judaism and science with the power of God as our healer fascinates myself and many on the healing path. Recently he addressed COVID-19 and I’m passing this along to you.  Click here to read his latest newsletter and/or click here to listen to his interview on One World Radio Network on the matter.

Last but not least, from this week’s Torah portion: God said to Moses, tell the peoples to make for Me a Sanctuary. Tell every man to give an offering, willingly from the heart and I shall dwell amongst them.

I take this to mean, “be the offering”.  Sending you prayers of love, healing and hopefully “ritual” hand washing,

Kol Tuv, Happy Rosh Chodesh Adar and Good Shabbos,

Melinda
